Everyone wants to do newborn photos and one year photos – the big milestones!
But good gracious do I love a six month/sitter photo shoot!
Babies change so much so quickly, as I’m sure we all know. There are a few reasons why I think this milestone shoot may be my actual favorite, though:
To celebrate! You are decidedly out of the newborn phase (which I know can be so bittersweet) and solidly in to infant life – full of giggles and smiles, chunky thighs, emerging personality, and maybe more sleep and routine. Congratulations!!
Flower pot babies are the BEST. Before babies are sitting up on their own, sessions can look similar as far as the ways you are able to hold and snuggle baby. But give me a flower pot baby? The wrist rolls? The leg rolls? The sparkly eyes when they’re so proud of themselves for sitting up?! YES. PLEASE. They can’t move (at least super quickly) yet, but are generally curious, happy, and can be entertained for a bit – aka my ideal client 😉
Family photos in the opposite season. If you are someone who wants to document newborn photos and then the mile stone birthday photos (which I totally think you should be, in my unbiased opinion…) doing a six-month session allows you to have family pictures taken in the totally opposite season. If you have a winter baby, you get a family photo shoot done in the summer. The fall babe means a spring six month session. You get the idea. Photos at different times of the year look so different on your walls and in albums, and trust me, you’re going to want each season of this first year captured!
Can your family cuddle and laugh and have fun doing some of your favorite things together? (Don't worry, this isn't a trick question - tears and occasional meltdowns are expected but not mandatory if toddlers are involved...) If you all can enjoy each other, I'll do the rest. As my kids always say, teamwork makes the dream work. I'm so grateful to be on your team.
