I love newborn babies, I love Hillsborough, and I absolutely love being a Hillsborough Newborn Photographer.
We moved from Cary, NC to Hillsborough, NC when our youngest daughter was 9 days old.
That’s right. Me and post c-section self, my husband, our 9 day old baby, twin two year olds & a 4 year old. Bananas.
Honestly, it was bittersweet leaving the place where all of our babies had come home from the hospital. I went to college at UNC Chapel Hill & my husband later went to Duke, plus my step-mom and step-sister had lived in Hillsborough for years, so I knew the area a little bit, but to be honest, I wasn’t totally sold on it.
Spoiler alert: I have absolutely fallen in love with Hillsborough.
After taking some time off to be with my babies, I started back into photography, often driving back to Cary & Raleigh for newborn or family sessions. I still love driving to see those clients (and new clients, too!), but I absolutely love being a Hillsborough newborn photographer. Here’s why.

Per my spoiler alert above, I have totally and completely fallen in love with Hillsborough. I love the small town vibes, the abundance of parks and green space, the adorable shops & restaurants downtown, and how friendly the people are.
The Riverwalk is beautiful & such a lovely place to get some energy out. Ayr Mount & Occoneechee Speeday are gorgeous and an easy and fun outing with kids. Purple Crow is my kids favorite place to hole up in the back room. Our library is truly one of the best. Snacks can be found at Kim’s, Cup A Joe, or Weaver Street depending on the time of day.
There are so many beautiful historic homes (like the one featured here!) and gorgeous new neighborhoods, too. Being a Hillsborough newborn photographer means I get to see & enjoy so many of the beautiful places my neighbors call home.

I love that my kids have grown up in the stroller / on scooters / riding bikes through town and on the Riverwalk. They were known as “the biker gang” around town for awhile – always showing up at the coffee counter or in stores with their spiderman & unicorn helmets on.
Often people still don’t recognize me if I’m walking around town without them.
Raising babies in a place like this is hard to find. If you’re lucky enough to do it, too, you will absolutely love it. And I’d love nothing more than to be there to capture the magical moments along the way.

If you know me, you know I love to hear about a birth story, talk about breastfeeding and other motherhood topics, and share favorite local baby/toddler/kid recs. I can truly do that anywhere (legit anywhere), but no where is more special than when it’s someone who lives in Hillsborough.
We can talk about the easiest places to babywear while your toddler plays, the best date night spots for post-baby evenings out, local happenings for families / babies / toddlers / kids, etc etc. The list goes on and on.

The other week my family was on an evening walk downtown and ran into some longtime clients of mine. We stopped to chat for a few and then continued on our way. I later found out that sweet little J had asked “is that my photographer?!” when he saw me coming. Stop. I cannot. I love it so much.
Also I cannot count the number of times I’ve run into clients turned friends at Broken Spoke. Or Whits. Or Cup A Joe. Basically any of our favorites are all of our favorites, so you’ll probably see your Hillsborough newborn photographer there.

To the point above, if you want a mom friend, I’m in. I love walking around town with a Cup A Joe latte in hand, meeting at the park, or grabbing lunch at Nomad or the Nickel. And I am 100% always down to hold a baby if you need a break. My husband prefers it that way.
But for real, I know how challenging and lonely the postpartum period can be. I’ve been there. You don’t have to do it by yourself. Let’s be friends!

let's work together!
Can your family cuddle and laugh and have fun doing some of your favorite things together? (Don't worry, this isn't a trick question - tears and occasional meltdowns are expected but not mandatory if toddlers are involved...) If you all can enjoy each other, I'll do the rest. As my kids always say, teamwork makes the dream work. I'm so grateful to be on your team.
